Doggies Day Out To The Beach

It was a nice Thursday afternoon when the dogs from PAAPP went for an outing to the beach. It was a hot sunny day but the dogs did not seem to care as they were happily going in and out of the water to retrieve their favorite toys.

Some had to battle against waves just to get their toy....

...while those not brave enough waited patiently by the shore for the waves to bring back their toy...

... and those who did not like water at all went for a nice long evening walk with their master.

At the end of the day, we have wet, exhausted but happy doggies.

I.H.A.D. New World Park

New World Park was filled with dog lovers and their furry companions to celebrate the I.H.A.D. (International Homeless Animal Day) on 21st August 2010. The event was organised by the Penang SPCA and New World Park, Penang. There were some programs lined-up such as pet parades, tricks demonstration, and the lighting of candles to signify the many dogs and cats that have left us.

PAAPP Potluck Party

PAAPP recently held a party to celebrate members whose birthdays were during the fourth quarter and PPP had the opportunity to cover this special event. The party was held at a house by the beach. Dog owners whom arrived early wasted no time in taking their dogs out for a little fun on the beach.

There were also those who did not bring their dogs to the party. So instead of going to the beach, they set up tables, arranging the food, and walked about in the garden to chat.....

....AND to check out which food they would want to have a go at first.... There was a list!

After dinner, they had a mini get to know everyone better followed by the main event of the evening, CAKE CUTTING!

Pssst. Enjoyed the photos? There are more photos over here.

A Little Bit About Agility & Obedience

Obedience:

Obedience is a must for all dogs. By doing obedience, it will indirectly train the dog to create a bond with the owner. There are also a few types of obedience courses available ranging from basic to advance obedience.

There is also a Canine Social Adaptability Test (CSAT) where dogs are tested after a training period of 12 weeks. This test is to ensure that the dogs will behave properly when taken out to public areas. Below are some photos of those who passed the CSAT :-

Agility:

Agility is fast sport which requires the dog handler to direct the dog through an obstacle course which consist of tires, weave poles and A frame to name a few. The dogs will have to run off-leash and without any treats or toys to get the dog's attention. The handler can only guide the dog through a set of commands thus making obedience a must.

The course will be decided and laid out by a judge. Some courses will have to follow a certain sequence but others will depend on point system but all courses will have a specific time frame to complete. Below are a couple of photos of dogs and their handlers doing agility:
